2009 Shackadelic Awards

I’m in the House of Bacon this afternoon and wanted to post a note regarding Shackadelic Awards. Do you have a favorite antenna? Or a favorite HT? The idea of Shackadelic Awards is straightforward. Ham radio is fun. I did not realize the importance of fun until recently. Today, ham radio allows me to travel the planet without leaving home, my signal is thrifty, and my station is budget minded.

I’m crafting a feedback loop out of Shackadelic Awards. One that communicates a message that ham radio is fun and the quality of our equipment is important. We vote with our dollars. We are heard with our voices. And Shackadelic Awards is a voice for all of us. Chris, N7ICE built an awesome community for each one of us, out of hard work and sacrifice. And I appreciate his support from the beginning when we were abuzz about social communities and the new movement inside ham radio.

Shackadelic Awards is all about ham radio’s operator and his/her equipment. It is about the one living on a thrifty budget who engineered a modest station. The success of Shackadelic Awards relies on feedback from each of us. Just leave a note why X,Y, or Z is important to you and I’ll transmit the message.

Sincerely,
Scot R. Morrison, KA3DRR
