Title : Tak-tenna
You must Login or Sign-up to participateI have the 40 meter version of this antenna. I found it needs to be at least be at least 10ft. off the ground with no nearby obstructions. It is cheap so you might give it a try.
I have HOA issues too and the Tak-Tenna is not very stealthy if you have to put it up in the air. I use the MFJ-1788 Super Hi-Q loop @ about 4ft on my 1st floor patio . Works better than the Tak-Tenna and it is multi-band (comes with its own tuner). Here is the link http://www.mfjenterprises.com/Product.php?productid=MFJ-1788
Neither of these antennas will be great but you can make some contacts. I often work Europe on 20m and 40m, PSK31 & RTTY, running 50 watts with the MFJ loop.
A quarter wave wire dipole would work much better. Even low to the ground.
Thanks for the reply. I have a 6 foot high fence in the back yard and if I can keep it below that I will be ok. The only other option is to put it in the attic. I thought about the flag pole antenna but as I read the HOA rules I need to go thru the same hoops to get a flag pole up as I would a tower so I am going to push for a tower.
I made a Homebrew version and it works ok.

Hey that is awesome. But I would like to ask if you attempted to tune this any lower than 8 feet. I am going to have to keep it below a 6 foot fence. Thanks.

Yes – Loads up fine – Not sure how well it performs, but check the Tak Tenna site:
