status updating

I was thinking about all of means by which we hams can advise others of our status: APRS status text, Echolink status, twitter, DSTAR msg and last heard, 73s.org, Facebook, various chat programs, and there must be a host of others. It might be cool if all of those status updates were parsed to one place, like 73s.org. For example, when you click on someone’s profile now you see their 73s.org status and twitter updates, and also their APRS last heard, but it might be nice to also see listed their APRS status text, Echolink last heard/status, chat status (e.g. gchat online/not, as well as yahoo or what have you), or even Facebook status updates. In that way, 73s.org could serve as a sort of “status updates clearinghouse” for those of us who post that kind of thing in multiple places.

Also, I just checked 73s.org on my BlackBerry and it seems to come up pretty well in Opera mini so this kind of thing can be checked easily while mobile.

We’re trying to get there with 73s.org. Check out your public profile or mine for instance http://73s.org/n7ice. The user’s Twitter updates, APRS status (if available), and current @73s status are all on the same page.

Nice, CHris. Yes, 73s.org is certainly the one place where this seems to be coming together. I guess it’s a matter of getting access to or reading the other sites data? Facebook would be great to add, as would Echolink status.

Keep up the good work- this is a blast!
