Droid – the rest
I’ve had the Droid for one week now. My previous phone is a LG shine with ATT. This is my first smartphone and so far I am pleased. There is supposed to be a major software update coming December 11 which is supposed to address the known problems, most of which I have not experienced. Apparently reading the blogs, there is a bad batch of phones, all the I have heard who exchanged them for another one have been happy. Motorola says they have no idea which batch was but that the problems have been fixed.
Time will tell, I’m looking forward to the Android market growing and becoming more of a player. I like the phone, have been stung by Verizon 5 years ago so I was a little hesitant to go with Verizon for 2 years (another part I hate) but with the previous phone on AT&T, there are places the I have problems sending text messages which have been no problem with the Verizon.
I am surprised at the smartphone market, if you would have asked me two years ago I would have said Blackberry would be the way to go. If my contract for AT&T would be upgradable I would probably I looked more at the iphone. AT&T which I don’t understand has upgrade and contract expiry odd. The wife and I bought our LG Shine at the same time from the same place however my upgrade period is March but hers is June and our contract expires October 3rd, 2010. Yes I have two phones at the moment. Wasn’t sure how the wife and I would like the Droid, they said we have 30 days to decide, then we’ll probably cancel the other contract at a cost of $150 BUT it’s better then paying $128 per month for the next 11 months.
At this point, I’m pleased.
