Back on Twitter with New Account

I mentioned in my last blog that my N3FNE account on Twitter had been hacked and someone turned it into a spambot. Sorry to everyone who was bombarded with Direct Messages from me. I deleted that account and created two new ones. The first is RadioN3FNE and I decided that I would use it only for amateur radio and technology-related tweets. Long ago when I created N3FNE, it was initially just for amateur radio but it just grew into other topics. This time, RadioN3FNE won’t stray beyond communications. The other account is Pete_MD and it covers everything else I’m interested in tweeting.

In searching around for followers, I discovered that even though I deleted my N3FNE account, its shadow seems to be everywhere. I’m not sure how all that will be cleaned up. For example, how does it get removed from “wefollow” or the lists of users who were following it? I did send a note to update the user name for N3FNE on HamTwits. I’m not sure how to do it for other applications.

I also discovered that I can not access both Twitter accounts at the same time on different tabs in Internet Explorer. It always defaults both tabs to the same one, ie that last account accessed. Later today, I’ll try using different browsers at the same time and see if that works. Right now, I’m not sure what to do with TweetDeck. Many users commented that they thought the weak security on the application was responsible for the hacking outbreak, which I noted was pretty extensive. What I like most about TweetDeck is that it can simultaneously post to both Twitter and Facebook, and it had a function to shrink URLs. If I drop it, I’ll miss that functionality.
